|
Angus Academy
Angus Academy is a partnership which will enable all of our secondary schools to increase opportunities and ensure equity for young people in the senior phase. The courses on offer will mainly be Advanced Highers for students in S6, but there will be some Higher Courses that S6 students can select.
The courses will begin when your own school changes timetable for the session. The subjects that are on offer will either run in column B or D. Column B will run on Monday P6+7 and Wednesday P4+5. Column D will run on Tuesday P4+5 and Thursday P6+7. P6+7 slots will be virtual and P4+5 will be when any in-person slots occur - this will either be weekly or twice per term depending upon the subject.
In most schools you will also have one period for independent work associated with the chosen Angus Academy course. This will allow you to undertake elements of written coursework for submission. Your own school will allocate a member of staff to support you with this if required

|
Young Applicants in Schools Scheme (YASS)
S6 pupils can choose from a wide range of university level (SCQF 7) courses which can be studied in school alongside their other subjects. There are courses in a range of subject areas, from science to law, languages to accounting and much more.
he courses start in October and run for either six or nine months depending on the credit level.

Course levels
The courses offered through YASS are at SCQF level 7: equivalent to the first year at a traditional university.
Credit points
Each course has credit points (10 or 30) which indicates the amount of credit you can count towards an Open University qualification and how many hours it might take you to study. One credit point represents approximately ten hours of study.
Please note: these credit points are higher education (CATS) points and not part of the UCAS tariff.
