You may be able to help out on a regular basis during the day or you may only occasionally have time after school. The important thing is to be aware that you have skills and abilities that you can use to benefit the school and its pupils. All parents have something to bring to the table and this is why we encourage you get involved either by attending meetings or simply let us know how you would like to be involved by sharing your details and thoughts with us either by email, facebook, or a note via our website.
Research shows that parental involvement in secondary school makes a huge difference to children's academic and emotional well-being. Parenting of teens is one of the most difficult jobs in the world and keeping in close contact with their school life can help to prepare for many of the potential problems that teenagers now face.
Goals
As a group we aim to work with the school to:
- Create a space where topics can be discussed that matter to you whether it be qualifications or the health and wellbeing of our young people.
- Increase communication between school and families
- Support the school to achieve better outcomes for our young people
People do not need to worry about being assigned a role such as Chair, Secretary or Treasurer as the meetings are very informal and the school takes a minute of the meeting so it can be shared.
