Pathways for Pupils

What is my journey at Webster’s High going to be like?

Article 29 (goals of education): Education must develop every child’s personality, talents and abilities to the full.

Sometimes the Scottish Qualification system can seem confusing. In the past, it was often believed that the more academic pupils would reach an exit point at the end of S5 or S6 and leave high school with traditional qualifications graded from A-C - the more the better – which would enable them to go on to further or higher education whereas the more vocational pupils would reach an exit point at the end of S4.

However the emphasis on this has been slowly shifting due to changes within education itself, the employment sector and ociety.   As a result, there are many different pathways that young people can take - all of equal value.

The Scottish Credit Qualifications Framework shows the relationship between different qualifications. It brings together achievements from school, college, univeristy and a variety of work based qualifications. (Click here to find out more)
