Vikings
Titanic
In this topic we look at the infamous 'unsinkable ship' Titanic. We explore life in Britain at the time and the class sytem. We look at the ship itself and the class system living conditions along with what happened on the night of the disaster, who was to blame and the consequences of the event. We also complete a film study on the film 'Titanic'
Wars of Independence
In this topic we explore the events that took place between Scotland and England from the 1280s. We look at the reign and death of King Alexander the 3rd along with the problems this caused the kingdom of Scotland. We also look at the Scottish resistence of William Wallace and Robert the Bruce alongside famous battles like Stirling Bridge, Falkirk and Bannockburn.
WW1
In this topic we look at World War one. We explore the causes of the war, propaganda used to encourage men to join the army and the conditions in the trenches. Finally we explore the home front and rememberence. We complete a film study with 'War Game' and undertake an archeology Scotland Heritage Heroes project building model trenches.
Progression Pathway
In S2 History pupils complete assessments at the end of each unit of work which they complete. Each of the assessments the pupils complete are worth 15 marks in total. Once the class teacher has marked this, the score and % will be given and that score is matched to our progression pathway grid. Pupils can then see where they are in their learning for each topic and recieve feedback on areas to improve as the progress through the year.
