S1 Course Outline

In S1 students will study a range of prose, poetry, drama and media texts to develop their English and literacy skills in the areas of reading, writing, listening and talking. Students will read and analyse texts to develop their understanding and evaluation skills, write their own prose and poetry in a variety of styles and develop listening and talking skills through classroom discussion and prepared presentations.

S2 Course Outline

In S2 students will build upon the skills they have learned in S1, reading and analysing a range of texts to further develop their skills in understanding, analysis and evaluation. Students will continue to write a variety of critical and discursive essays as well as creative and personal writing.

S3 Course Outline

In S3 students continue to build upon their skills while analysing a range of texts and developing their critical and creative abilities with a selection of writing tasks. Students in S3 will move on to study National Qualification courses in the winter term.
