Every child has the right to the best possible health.

Governments must work to provide good quality health care, clean water, nutritious food and a clean environment so that children can stay healthy. Richer countries must help poorer countries achieve this.

 

What is FairTrade?

FairTrade is a foundation that ensures the people growing and producing food and clothes in developing countries, that get sold in the developed world, are given fair wages for the work they do.

They also ensure that the conditions people work in are suitable and safe.

Fairtrade includes a wide range of products, from flowers to clothing to sports equipment.

 

Why should we support FairTrade?

It is about respect – we wouldn’t like it if we worked for a full day and received less than a pound in wages.

It is about global citizenship.  Imagine if, as workers, we found ourselves in that situation.

 

What are we doing at Webster's to support FairTrade?

At Webster's High, with the help of the Kirriemuir FairTrade group, we have set up our own FairTrade tuckshop.  The tuckshop will run once a month in the Home Economics area.

Our FairTrade group also do awareness raising through assemblies and lessons on FairTrade are delivered in Home Economics and Social Subjects.  

If pupils are interested in joining the FairTrade Group they should see Miss McInally (Geography), Mrs Morrison (Geography teacher) or Mrs Hunter (DHT).
