School Uniform
At Webster’s High School we believe that the wearing of a school uniform is important for several reasons:
- It gives our pupils a sense of belonging.
- It removes the pressure to wear expensive brands.
- It enables us to identify intruders very quickly which helps us keep your young person safe.
- It helps our pupils get into the correct mind-set for working when they attend school and reinforces our positive work ethos leading to raised attainment.
- It enhances our reputation as a school in the local and wider community which helps our pupils when they apply for work.
Those who choose not to wear uniform may be sent home or withdrawn from class until a meeting with parents/carers can be arranged.
Our uniform is as follows:
- Webster’s blazer
- Webster’s tie
- White shirt
- Black jumper
- Black school trousers or skirt
- Black school shorts
- Black or mostly black shoes
Tracksuit bottoms, faded jeans, leggings with a logo or transparent areas and cycling/sports shorts are not acceptable and will be challenged and parents/carers will be phoned to discuss how we can support their young person to wear the correct uniform.
As in previous years it is compulsory for pupils to wear uniform and blazers are strongly encouraged. Prefects/House Captains and School Captains must wear a blazer for formal school events but can borrow one from the swap shop.
Therefore, if families wish to purchase a blazer there are different ways this can be done:
- As part of our Eco school programme, the school runs a swap shop where families can purchase a previously worn blazer for £10 and then swap it for a larger one when their child has grown out of it. Families should be aware that we may not have every size in stock but we do keep a waiting list and notify families when one becomes available.
All pupils are expected to remove outdoor jackets/hoodies when they enter the school building.
Physical Education (P.E.) Acceptable
Pupils are required to bring appropriate kit based on the area (and weather season) of their activity.
- For outdoor p.e., pupils should bring warm clothing and waterproofs
- For indoor p.e., pupils can wear shorts and t-shirt but must wear non-marking (preferably white soled) trainers. Tracksuit bottoms are also acceptable.
- Pool: Pupils should wear appropriate swimwear, either full swimming costumes or swimming shorts
Webster's Uniform Swap Shop
As part of our work as an Eco school, we believe in the importance of recycling and reusing clothes to reduce waste.
Therefore, we run a swap shop where families can swap previously worn uniform in good condition, such as blazers, trousers, and skirts, etc, children have outgrown for a bigger size or they can make a donation. As a school, we can no longer sell blazers on behalf of families but are happy to accept donations of blazers for our swap shop.
School Blazers
If you own a blazer and have outgrown it you can swap it for a bigger size. If you do not own a blazer then you can purchase one for £10 which you can then swap when you outgrow it!
If you have financial concerns regarding the purchase of full school uniform please contact the school.
