Victorian Mysteries
In this topic we explore life in victorian Britain. We look at deadly diseases, awful living conditions and the mysteriously grusome side of victorian life with things like Bodysnatching and Jack the Ripper.
Civil Rights in the USA
In this topic we explore the issues of civil rights in the US in the 1950s and 1960s and explore how many individuals tried to further civil rights movements through nonviolent protests. We also look at the KKK and their history and complete a documentry study on the KKK in modern America. We finish the topic with a film study 'Remember the Titans'
Vietnam
In this topic we look at the Vietnam war and explore the two sides of the conflict, their strengths and weaknesses and the outcome of the war.
Slave Trade (N5 Topic)
In this topic we start looking at the Atlantic Slvae Trade- Our first N5 topic. We explore how the slave trade started, its impact on the countries involved, the lives of slaves in the middle passage and plantations and how the Abolition movement happened to help the trade come to an end.
Progression Pathway
In S3 History pupils complete assessments at the end of each unit of work which they complete. Once the class teacher has marked this, the score and % will be given and that score is matched to our progression pathway grid. Pupils can then see where they are in their learning for each topic and recieve feedback on areas to improve as the progress through the year.
Below is a table explaining the progression pathways pupils will be on based on their result.
