Our first topic at Higher is the Paper 2 - Skills - Migration and Empire.
This topic explore 4 main issues - Migration from Scotland, Immigration into Scotland, the Lives of Scots elsewhere and the impact of Migration and Empire on shaping Scotland today.
This topic is our enquiry skills topic where we evaluate sources on the 4 topic areas. (Very similar to N5)
European and World Topic
Our second Paper 1 - Essay Topic we explore the cold war
We explore 5 issues in this topic each linking to an essay.
Issue 1- Reasons for the Cold War
Issue 3 - The Cuban Missile Crisis
Issue 4- The reasons why the US Lost the vietnam War
Issue 5- Control of the Cold war
Issue 6: The end of the Cold war
We also use documentry and film clips to help our learning in these topic areas.
British Topic
Our first Paper 1 - Essay Topic we explore the changing lives of people in Britain between 1851-1951
We explore 5 issues in this topic each linking to an essay.
Issue 1- Reasons why Britain became more democratic
Issue 3 - Women and the right to vote
Issue 4- The reasons why the Liberal government tried to make social welfare reforms to help the British people
Issue 5- The effectiveness of thses reforms (What they did and how it helped)
Issue 6: How the Labour government then tackles British social issues (Tackling poverty, the introducion of the NHS etc.)
We also use documentry and film clips to help our learning in these topic areas.
